My Uncle Jerry passed away the other night. He was one of the kindest, most intelligent souls I’ve ever known. I always enjoyed when he would mail my husband Greg and I notes, articles, and books that would be of interest to us. It was really thoughtful and receiving them always made us smile.
Before Greg and I got married, Jerry sent us a gift certificate to Boston’s historic restaurant, Durgin Park, with a note encouraging us to enjoy some relaxing time together before the wedding. Greg and I did just that (it was definitely needed!). We decided to relive our first date together by visiting the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. The restaurant we went to on our first date had since closed, and Durgin Park was the perfect replacement. Greg enjoyed a delicious prime rib and I enjoyed a fresh (likely caught that day) plate of schrod.
I will never forget that day, Jerry’s generosity, and that incredibly thoughtful gift. Jerry was also U.S. Veteran who served in the Vietnam War. He will be missed. Rest in peace, Jerry.
